Otto Dix, German Expressionist, is best known for his paintings and especially drawings based on his First World War experiences and the horrific things it did to the participants. His distinctive drawings are some of the most powerful among the very powerful drawings and prints of the social realists. They are often sparse of line and their power is in that graphic simplicity. This nude female back is no exception, simple yet quintessentially Dix in look and feel.
